I had a friend who after retiring from his business career started messing around with computers for other folks.  He repaired, bought, sold, and wheeled and dealed in computers a while.  When a company upgraded he would buy all their old ones for almost nothing, clean them up and resell them.  He moved LOTS of boxes for a while.  He also did this for quite a while, until health issues caused him to retire (again).

He refused to touch an e-machine.  Said they had too many issues and the problems were too hard to track down.
