I shall try those tools, but what is described in the knowledge base posted by 4wdaaron assumes a proper uninstall with windows, then a program to clean up the leftovers. 

I cannot download a program from McAffe to clean up after reinstalling, as I have tried safe mode with and without networking, only without networking can I escape the BSOD.  Under safe mode, some programs installed will not work.  It appears what has been suggested would only work when the computer is running in full mode.

Perhaps I should consult with McCaffe support, but I hate talking to India, was hoping for an easier to understand method.

And, I will try the suggestions given, I am just a little hesitant to try too many salvation programs, for fear of not being able to restore properly.  I have been in situations where I had to give up on a hard drive because I restored too often, and it wouldn't restore at all.
