Subject: Windows 7 upgrade hitch

I just knew it couldn't be simple!   :-)

Everything was going smoothly until I had to specify upgrade or new. Well, it's an upgrade from Vista to Win 7 (and that's what it says on the box) so I clicked upgrade. It thought about it for a minute and said nope, you can't upgrade from Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Pro -- it has to re-install everything. Have all data backed externally, all disks ready, etc.

Oh, boy.

I've already upgraded to a Win 7-compatible anti-virus. I think I have all the install disks and can export the e-mail client's contact list and the browser's bookmarks. What about all those e-mails I've been keeping in a folder for safe-keeping? Will this "upgrade" wipe everything or will I be offered an opportunity to drag some of this stuff over? I am operating on the assumption that everything will get nuked.
