You will find less guard breakage, I think I have replaced two or three in the last two years with the header. As far as sections go the only time I have had to replace then is when I get a foreign object in the cutter bar, ie old harrow tooth, chunck of scrap iron someone lost in field etc.

You may want to stock some of the splices in case the bar breaks. The new 30' I got this year came in 4 pieces so has 3 splices. I like to have on in combine just in case????/
