Subject: RE: Whole house in floor heat ?

Our old farmhouse has hot water heat. Downstairs has two zones, kitchen / bath, and living room/dining room/office In the kitchen & bathroom we had electric in-floor heat installed under tile flooring about 6 years ago with separate thermostat for bath & separate for kitchen. Floor heat can be set to control temp at the floor or at thermostat level. I currently have it set for floor level. What we have found is that anything less than 70* at floor level feels cool so we set floor @ 70 in kitchen & 72 in the bath & furnace @72. When there's a wind out of the north, kitchen side of the house, kitchen / bath stays @ 72 but if wind drops then temp goes up to 74-75 in the kitchen. Also, cooking affects the kitchen temp. Have tried lowering the kitchen floor temp but then floor is cold to touch. Really haven't figured out a way to regulate the heat in the kitchen evenly. Having a warm floor in the bath is really nice when getting out of the shower.
