East of Broken Bow | I have been at controlled burns where a bunch of evergreens caught on fire, and it created so much heat and updraft, that a 'fire tornado' was formed. Keep in mind, this was not hundreds of acres burning, but rather just a bunch of trees at the end of a little canyon. I can't even begin to imagine the heat coming off a true forest fire.
FWIW, if anyone wants a glimpse of what it is like, take an old 'live' Christmas tree, and put it in your burn barrel. I doubt you would want to stand within 25 feet of just one 6 ft tall burning tree. Now multiply that out, and you'll see what I mean. | |
