Early yield reports are pretty bad.. time to add wheat to the ethanol mix?

What kind of aph do you have on dryland and is it insurable?

About 65 bu.. give or take.. some in the 50's one field over 100.. I actually reduced my coverage this year to 80% Enterprise.. so we have always averaged the WHOLE Farm.. still the premiums are EXPENSIVE.. like $50 an acre.. so.. it's not a guaranteed windfall..

65 bu x 80% =  52 bu.. so about a DOLLAR per Bushel for Coverage.. 

We used to be TOTALLY SELF INSURED.. we didn't have insurance until about a decade ago when input prices took off.. I really can't justify to the banker putting that much RISKS out there without coverage.. now that Corn prices have come down from $8.00 there's not much left to lock in.. and the inputs need to come down some more to make things work..

.. again why I think you'll see guys continue to look for cheaper options next year.
