Funds enter the bean market in March 2016 and do not even think about exiting at the correction except for a portion of their ownership in beans.Some of this has to do with valuations,maybe and some of the stubbornness has to do with your mention of holding values at the 9.40 area a darn near clear 1,00 higher then the prior year leaving the market holding very well and a double higher bottom that would not fall with the larger harvest supplies.
Holding positions for the funds at present is still a dollar above their original entry points and may still fit the criteria of a long term hold position.Besides maybe their info is better then the public has access to, kind of doubt it .They can screw this up with the best of them,just look at the 2016 corn trade where it totally fell apart.
