| To compare it to wheat, the protein scales can change daily. That is normal and whenever you bring it in is what scale it will be.
I would assume your contract is worded in the same way, to the effect "scales and grade at time of delivery"
We don't get vom in corn here, but we do in wheat. If it's a bad vom year in a bad vom area, they might not even accept it at all, let alone discount it.
Your salesperson maybe should have said "we aren't discounting this NOW, and we are paying premium for this NOW". But that also kind of goes without saying, in my mind.
I had a similar situation with an ADM soybean plant that grades any moisture above 13 very harshly. Luckily it was just a few loads. But moral of the story is every place has it's quirks and once you get used to what to expect it can save you from future disappointment. | |
