Lot of really good advise in the responses of how to manage delivery risk.
Unfortunately you are probably screwed unless you can work it out. Most contracts state nothing about discounts other than its based on posted schedules that are subject to change at anytime. And any premium unless built into the price on the contract is definitely not protected.
That reminds me. I need to check on some deferred pay contracts tmrw.
