Nevada, Iowa | Something must have changed in seed production to accumulate so many hybrids with heavy bags weights. I would imagine it has something to do with profitability (intended sarcasm). I can recall some time back that most companies would prefer that you plant their graded seed in a medium flat as that produced the best germ results and consequently they charged more for it. Large rounds were decidedly the worst germinating seed and were often discounted. Ironically, most of the 65+ pound bags I got this year, I would have certainly labeled large round. Just as ironic was no discount. So we get to pay more and bust a gut too. Go figure, lol
Isn't it also ironic how the same industry that thought we shouldn't have soybeans in 60# bags deem it ok to have corn in 70# bags. Oh well!
