As far as a gold standard, I'm not really in favor of a gold standard. As long as gold is traded freely in open markets anyone who wants to have his own personal gold standard is free to do so simply by purchasing it. The only thing I ask is that gold and silver be recognized as money not be subject to "gains" which are not gains at all, but simply the debasement of paper currencies reflected in the gold price. Paying income tax on "gains" of precious metals is nothing but an inflation tax and the way the government extracts its pound of inflation flesh tax even if a person tries to protect himself with gold. So all I ask is that gold and silver be recognized as constitutional money. Then I can have my own private gold or silver standard.

As far as the rest of your post, that is the Kool-Aid we are supposed to drink. I personally do not buy it, but I respect your opinion.
