NW Iowa. / SW Arizona | Good question, not sure I have the right answer but will tell of one I know of. My dad was born in 1909 and was "old" when he got drafted into the army when WW 2 broke out. I guess one advantage to that was he never went over seas, he stayed state side and did office work mainly. His younger brother was about one year younger and he got a Ag defrerment to stay home to help my grandparents run the farm. I wish I could ask my dad or my uncle why the older of the two had to go and the younger got to stay home but that won't happen as they are both gone now. | |
