We used to get questions on the "special, only for organic farmers, eqip funding" after every tent revival/Amway meeting that one of our organic farmers attended. There ain't any such animal (or fund), they compete for funds on an even footing with everyone else, what they did have was cost assistance to complete the paperwork for the certification phase.
These rumors seem to start as a answer to a question, then migrate away from the original answer with the speed and accuracy of a game of "Post Office" among 7th graders at a birthday party.
