A year ago we got rid of the natural gas insert in our fireplace (very inefficient and was hazardous) and replaced it with a wood insert. When I contacted my agent he said as long as I had a fireplace in the first place it didn't matter. However, if I was putting in a new one then it would have to be on the policy. Best contact your agent. Better safe than sorry.
