| I was over there in 62. I was selected to be a member of a high school concert band, and we stopped in Paris. The currency was the NF (New Franc). I was curious, so I asked about it. I was told that the NF replaced the Franc at 1:100. I remember that, in several places we stopped over there, the bullet holes in the buildings were still visible from the war.
France is still with us. Limping along, but still with us.
The difference with the USD, of course, is that it is the world's reserve currency. And as much as parts of the world would like to get away from that, there still appears to be no alternative. Yet, anyway. | |
