1. No, not that bad of a comparison, IMHO. We all know that the world has been warming since the Little Ice Age. Models (and modelers) have been predicting a relentless warming due mainly to the man-made CO2 in the atmosphere. CO2 has gone steadily upward, but temperatures have not. They still claim they will be right in the long term.

Gold prices have been going up. Predictions were that it had to go higher, and that it could not go down. It has been falling, but people are still saying prices are manipulated, and that it will soon go through the roof. Not that bad of a comparison, IMHO.

I have to go right now - I'll get back on the rest.
