Remember the videos someone posted a while back, all the crashes in the former Soviet Union? Remember how everyone seemed to have dash cams? That would help the insurance company to decide if it was avoidable or not.

I don't know about in Iowa, but "here", it seems that every time somebody runs in the ditch it was because they were "avoiding a deer". From crashes I have better information about, a large percentage of the time the 'deer' is fictitious. Dash cams would fix that.......while opening a huge Pandora's box(if they were required).

To answer the question, if there actually was a dump truck it would have been unavoidable. If no dump truck, obviously avoidable, all you have to do is stay awake.
