East Central, MO
Before I voice my opinion, let me say I am in no way opposed to guns, so long as they're in the right hands. I am an avid hunter and gun enthusiast, and I even own my own Smith & Wesson M&P .45, though I do not have a CC.

As much as I love guns though, I do not believe however that someone who had their CC and was armed would have helped. There are so many variables here that prevent that.
- It was dark
- Hundreds of people fleeing the room, pushing, shoving, screaming
- Being shot at by the gunmen
- Tear gas: It would have 1) obscured your vision because of the smoke and 2) obscured your vision because its tear gas and it makes you gag, want to vomit and close your eyes, and natural instinct for that is to run
When being shot at, people panic, and thats even more so when someone throws out some tear gas and you can't hardly see. So, for you to have gotten a clear shot on the gunmen, you would have had to have been extremely close to him. If you had to wait for him to walk around the theatre for a few minutes shooting before he finally got close to get a clear shot on him (since he was so far away, it was dark, there were tons of innocent people in your line of fire, your vision was obscured by the smoke and effects from the tear gas, you're being shot at, and you only have a pistol, which is accurate in the hands of an expert marksman say 50 yds, possibly more on perfect conditions and the fact that he had a bullet proof vest which will most likely stop most pistol rounds so youll need to get a headshot to take him down immediately), you're probably not going to save any lives. And if god forbid you miss and hit someone else, you just added to the death toll. Now, if say all the variables were in your favor and you were right beside him when he started shooting, yeah, you probably could have prevented most or even all of those people from being killed. But that's a lot of variables to go in your favor. Yes I respect people who have their CC, and in a lot of cases, it is going to help, but I do not believe it would have helped in this one. Just my thoughts on this whole topic from the comments that have been made so far about the story.
