Subject: Planter speed vs yield observation

SW MINNESOTA
This past spring I decided to try a few alternating strips planted a two different speeds then see if there was a yield difference. I plant with a ground drive 16 row JD 7200 with esets, airforce and cleansweep. I typically plant around 5.5 mph. So for my little experiment I planted 6 alternating strips each at 5 mph and 8 mph. All I did was change speed. The spacing and singulation maps look like a mess on the 8 mph strips. This fall the corn was all weighed with grain cart and adjusted to 15%.
Results were 217.68 for the 5 mph and 217.95 for the 8 mph.
Now I have no intention in planting that fast but makes a guy wonder how important the nice even spacing and singulation are.
