I agree with the others shoptek, if you can get rid of McAfee and try one of the free versions. Trying to change common settings like this is another reason why I will get rid of McAfee here when the subscription is up. McAfee used to be rather easy to set up and configure, but with the newer Security Center version, you have to hunt all over to find how to configure scheduled scans.

While you are in there, you should turn off the on-access (or real-time) scanning, you might be surprised with how much faster your system runs.

...but then I looked at the processes running in the background (the post below) and see McAfee has a minimum of 6 processes running taking up a big chunk of memory.
