I don't know your level of comfort with databases and queries, but if you are dead-set in using a database engine, I'd skip Access and go to the free Microsoft SQL Express edition and management studio. Then you have the ability to actually join your data the way you want and can get to the data from Excel, custom software apps, web pages, etc. Access, to me, is just a kludge ever since it came out, and performance on large datasets is terrible.

From your description of what you want to do, it sounds like setting up a spreadsheet with pivot tables like mentioned earlier might be an easier option.
