suspect you are correct. As much as I would like cool if two packages of hamburger are at a super market one is USA and is say 30% higher from non USA both say Usda inspected figure which will go off the self.
This was the problem 15+ years ago when it was talked about. When they surveyed consumers, almost ALL want a label, but almost NONE would pay extra for it. I've not seen any recent consumer surveys to see how the percentages have changed.
The other side of equations is what has been done with lamb. Savvy retailers are bringing in cheap nasty tasting Australian lamb and putting it on their menu as a premium grass fed lamb. Australia/New Zealand lamb has almost become it's own brand when you see lamb on the menu too often. Cool has bit the sheep industry in the butt, unfortunately. |
