Dang,

I’m getting old, when did passing the 8th grade become deserving of anything other than a pat on the back and being asked when ya can come pick rock?

8th grade graduation is quite old news around here....in more recent years called 8th grade promotion. Separate ceremony from HS grad.

It's one if the very few events showing united community support focusing on academic accomplishments. Its for all the kids in the class who are successfully completing Jr high and ready to start HS, instead of just another gathering to watch a ball game. There is a plenty of praise and acknowledgement of certain kids
successes at any given game, pizza parties etc afterward, that one event to do likewise celebrating the academic accomplishments of the whole 8th grade class is quite harmless and appropriate.
