North Central Texas | They were popular here. In the 60s and early 70s they were mostly steel. The floors and the roof was aluminum. They went full aluminium in the mid 70s but Barrett and Wilson already had the market. Barrett was the CEO of American, left and moved south of the city to start his own trailer plant. I think polar finally bought them in the 80s and then shut it down. Not hard to find them still sitting in the trees. My biggest mistake when I scrapped the one here was getting rid of the long nose RD IH with the 270 Cummins hooked to it. I'm glad I wasn't alive when they tried to climb a hill with that thing. | |
