Western ND | It will be nice to see some green, I'm sick of grass fires. Between the mist and snow we ended up with .60 of moisture. Heard other reports south of us over an inch and even to the east reports of .75+. We haven't put anything in yet, will probably start tomorrow afternoon and will be on a hard press to go while there is moisture. We were drier than they were in the 1930s, have dirt drifts from the feedlot into the hay yard well over a foot deep and we gained plenty of topsoil from the neighbors who put peas in with a disc drill and rolled about 4 days before one of the big wind events. Have seen fires that the dirt was stripped from the burned areas before we had the fire under control. This will be talked about for generations. | |
