S Illinois | I guess I see it more as an umpire at baseball game. An umpire can call balls and strikes and safe or out but they don’t do it based on what they think the next pitch maybe or how fast they think the runner will reach a base. They know if a ball crosses the plate between a batters knees and just below the letters it is a strike.
When the USDA take surveys of producers acreage estimates they then can run the spreadsheets and they can take the surveys of foreign countries that occur through the attaché’s and they can build a model on the data collected. They don’t sit there and make changes daily in price or weather or other scenarios
The best thing the USDA could actually do is go back to how they did the reports in the old old days. Ranges for all of the data. So for example corn ending stocks will be between 1.1 and 1.5bb. There seems to be a hang up the exactness that is possible.
