Be awesome if that tape was worth a crap.  I bought some a month or two ago to mount a shift light to the pillar of my street/strip car to keep from drilling holes in it.  Scrubbed the area down with alcohol and let dry, stuck the mounting plate (without the light on it) on there, weighs less than a half dollar, applied pressure for as long as I could stand it, and let that sit 2 days before putting the light on it (also very little weight, maybe a little bit of pressure from the signal cable), went out to the garage two days later, whole works is laying on the dash with the tape stuck to the plate.  When I get in it once every other week or so, I stick the damn thing back up and it lasts for the day, next day it'll be laying on the dash.  I'll give it that, what little adhesion power it has, it retains over and over.
