Looks like R-calf, US Cattlemen and our favorite NCBA are set to meet in Phoenix next week to discuss the cattle packer control. I won't hold my breathe, probably just b*tch about if it should be 50 and 14 or something different. Bout time something may get traction. Wonder if they use the slush money from the big four for the event? Probably have lunch catered by Beyond Meat. Ok, rant over.
Every time there is a dumpster fire the cheerleaders come out, prices move back to breakeven, all the slogs get back to feeding cattle until the next disaster. Any other business would call these fundraiser drives for the organizations, for some reason the cattle peasants really think these guys are working in our best interest. Guess what, if they were there should be momentous change happening since the last several crashes they claimed they were working for us. Seems they are starting all over again. Industry is in major transition, talk to the stein guys about their wonderful year out contracts, that is the start of it. Managed supply, and you get to help secure captive supply if you want to play. These organizations are nothing more than wolves keeping guard of the sheep for the packer. |
