Embarrass WI | Cody is 30-40 miles from the park entrance, and when you get in the park from that entrance you still have a ways to go to get to the more popular areas. Cody does have plenty of touristy stuff, the Buffalo Bill Museum of the West could easily occupy you for a day.
I would suggest staying in Cody one night, Cooke City/Silver Gate another night, and a night at West Yellowstone. That way you get to see the different sections of the park.
Best would be if you could stay in the park, but those are usually filled months and months in advance. Doesn't hurt to check, I'm sure there's always cancellations.
The valley to the Northeast in the park(Lamar valley?) seems to have the most visible wildlife, if that interests you. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is well worth the hike. | |
