For steering only wheelman pro is one of the most affordable options. Outback makes fairly affordable systems as well that can also control sprayers.

Since you are thinking about running your planter in the future you will probably want to look at an AgLeader or Trimble system. Make sure the monitor you choose can do section control and if you buy used check what unlocks it has/needs.

Some people will plant using the free WAAS level accuracy and just nudge their AB lines every so often. You will probably have to reset your AB lines every time you get into a field unless you get some kind of accuracy subscription. To avoid the subscription you either have to have access to a free CORS network, or build your own RTK base station like how some people in the AgOpenGPS community have done.
