Subject: RE: Ultra early planting corn

Central IL
Here where I live, if the season turns out to be drier than normal, the early planted corn roots chase the moisture deep better than later planted corn and takes advantage of the longer days during grain fill. This has to be balanced against early frosts and cold wet soils reducing some of the plant vigor. More times than not the early planted corn has a yield advantage. Ultra early not so much here.
