How square are your fields? If you have a lot of angles where the clutches are shutting off rows to stop overlap planting I could see 2% acreage being reduced easily enough. Does your combine have a yield monitor? If so you might as well plant a few passes at 500 plants/acre higher population and compare the yield. Then next year you will know if you should be bumping the populations or not.
