. | By the 1920's they were being phased out with the advent of gas tractors. I think a lot of them that were just sitting around ended up victims of WWII scrap steel drives. I know that my uncle had a Rumely oil pull tractor that fell victim to the war effort. While they aren't common around here, there's still quite a few around. There is currently a 1916 JI Case 80HP steam engine that hasn't been run in at least 25 years up on a local online auction. At minimum the boiler needs to be pressure tested or ultrasounded before it can be run again and more than likely it will need to have a new boiler fabricated. Current bid is $20,000. | |
