west tennessee | I have the same problem.I just bought this old w14 and the motor runs good but the trans is weak.I changed the trans oil and filters and found a good 1/2" of crudd in the bottom of the trans housing.The suction screen wasnt too bad.I flushed it out with diesel and it seemed to have helped a little.I assumed by all the material in the bottom that all the clutches were shot,but one transmission guy told me its still very likely its just the torque converter.I havnt priced the converter,but I got several prices on complete overhauls---anywhere from $4500 to$6000.I dont know about you but thats more than mine is worth.I am still using it very carefully for now but I will have to do something eventually probably this winter.I am interested to hear what you find out with yours and I will let you know here too.
