Aberdeen MS | Bought one new in 66 and in 72 added another 67 model. Pulled a 4 X 16 plow with it for many years about 8" deep, 18' IH #45 field cultivator and a 19.5 foot IH 480 flex frame disk.
Third gear with the plow, fourth with the FC and depending on bean stubble or plowing third or fourth on the disk.
Nice thing about that 401.... a tad over 4 gal/hour fuel with the plow.
Not sure if it was just the way it was ordered by the dealer or if it was a switch between the 66 and 67 model years. The 66 used the cotton string fuel filters with a 3rd canister final up under the hood and the 67 used 2 spin on filters. Was always a pain hand pumping that third one full on filter changes. | |
