NW Washington | Nelly was a pretty common name for horses and other stuff. Nellybelle was the name of the Jeep on the old Roy Rogers TV series.
I remember driving a CC Case tractor that had to be hand cranked. Dad said we could not start it but we could drive it. He also could get steamed if you killed the engine and he had to come over and restart it .
I also remember him cranking a WC Allis Chalmers when it was still in reverse. That lead to a merry chase and some foul language. At least it did not try to run over him.
"Pat Brady
It was a TV icon manufactured from good old American steel and named Nellybelle, a 1946 Willys CJ-2A Jeep with some very innovative bodywork. It was in fact owned by Roy, but was driven in the show by his comic sidekick, Pat Brady (1914-1972)." | |
