| We had trouble with our 8670 for about 2 years......after it ran in the field for a while and we idled down (such as to fill a the planter), it would die and we couldn't get it restarted unless we wired the fuel solenoid into the run position. We tried lots of fixes including an expensive solenoid and the techs could never find anything wrong.....It became so frustrating that we were ready to ditch the tractor.
Last spring it did the same thing that you describe going down the road-- the batteries were dead. We hooked it to a jumper battery and drove it home and it ran until it drained that battery.
We finally discovered/realized that the alternator was toast. We put on a new alternator in the field and let it charge up the batteries and haven't had a problem since!
Voltage is very important to any sort of electronic tractor!
