North Central Oregon | Here in the Northwest our Soft White winter wheat could be in trouble. We started dry and are remaining dry. Long range forecasts seem to be indicating we are going to stay dry. Have had several days of 30 to 50 mph wind with humidities in the 20% range. Very dry. Yesterday had Dust Storm warnings up for the area. Most of Inland Oregon and Washington had our driest March in 129 years according to maps posted by Eric Snodgrass. My own weather station and gauges around the farm bore that out as well. March is normally one of our wettest months. Wheat that has not even jointed yet is starting to show stress. Looking like a year we will be thankful for insurance.
