I have a four port USB hub hooked to my computer that I have various things plugged into. My HP 4400 printer/scanner is now attached to it. Prints fine, but I cannot get the scanner to work. Everything works fine as long as it is hooked directly to the computer. However, if I plug that into the computer, my battery back-up computer shut-down data cable gets hooked to the hub and that doesn't work right.

The hub was a cheapie that I picked up at Wally World. Are there better ones that allow stuff to work correctly when hooked to - same as if they were plugged directly to the computer?
