If you have to tear out stalls, buy the electronic feed system, and the turn around crates, only to loose 30 percent because of space it has got to run close to $8/ head just for that. Some genetics can't ever figure out the electronic feed system. Now you will loose at least a pig per litter with turn around crates. And another pig per litter with open pen gestation. God help you if you have DNA females. Your death loss on sows in open pen will be at least 25 percent! And the ones that do live will not be worth anything when you sell them. If I was to put a price tag, it has to be $20/ head. And why can't the producer make some money for having to drag dead sows out? I would not be interested under $25/ head. California can eat almonds and avocados. | |
