I think about this topic every so often. I wonder about early inhabitants of the planet and the method in which they discovered which ones were edible or not. I can just imagine early hominids relating stories to one another near the evening fire and telling the story of old uncle ugh picking the wrong shroom and taking an early trip to Valhalla. But you are putting a lot of trust in the stories from generations past and their accuracy. Apparently they were told with less embellishment than the size of the mastodon the great grandpa grunt killed with the sling. Just thinking out loud. In all seriousness, I love mushrooms but I stick to store bought or the trusted morels.
