I started with twine only on my baler. When I went to wrapping baleage the main problem I had was the extreme difficulty in seeing the sisal twine and taking it all off after removing the plastic. It seemed to take forever if you could even see it. The wrapping seemed to affect the twine so it looked just like the rest of the bale. The twine also deteriorated in spots in wet baleage making it even tougher to get off. I feel that getting all twine, even sisal, off before feeding a bale is important. These are large, heavy usually 5x5 (wet) or 5 x near 6 ft (drier) round bales. The higher moisture the bale, the tougher it was to get all the twine off. After one year like that I added netwrap to my baler and it is night and day easier to get 3 wraps of edge to edge netwrap all off compared to twine. Even feeding wet baleage in March the netwrap comes off easily and completely much quicker than twine.
