Base yields have little to do with actual yields. No kidding. Our family farms a lot of land up and down both sides of the Wapsi River, with CSR’ s around 60 in those areas. Once properly drained, they produce very well most years. Can acquire roughly 2 of these acres for every one of the really good stuff. No way the little extra yield on average the “ice cream” soils produce justify the nosebleed price from the economic standpoint of gross revenue as a ratio to purchase price.
