I think you could switch both the hot and neutral if it’s 120 volts and both hots if it’s 240 using the double pole double throw switch.
I assume the inverter has a ground lug of some kind that would be bonded to your house safety ground system. If no 3 prong grounded outlet on it, then you switch the two current carrying wires and hope for the best.
In any case, TEST the furnace ahead of time. I’ve heard of furnace control boards being finicky about grounding and refusing to operate on generators etc. | |
