Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | That looks just exactly like what we went through last year. We actually had some that was worse. Ours froze in early April but then we are further behind you but I'd say the stage was the same. We had also just top dressed some of our wheat before the freeze. And we got down around 10 if I recall and no snow cover.
I was surprised how it turned out. I had some varieties on some fields I really thought I was going to destroy it and go to another crop. In the end most of our wheat made in the 70's About average for us but it had a lot of dry and hot weather all the way to maturity so we were surprised it did as well as it did. With some rains at the right time it would have done better. So, I'm not sure the freeze we had hurt the wheat at all. We were very surprised. |
