olivetroad - 2/21/2021 17:16 They now are making a heavier version. It's worth the extra coin. We have two of them. The only thing we ever replace are the tool boxes that hold the remote - sometimes they stress crack - fender washers are your friend. And we keep a extra coil spring on hand for the spring loaded latch. They sometimes give out. We buy them from K&A trailers in Martinsburg, Mo. Great family business.
So are all new ones the heavier version? Or is the heavier version a special order?

I believe they still make both versions.  We had the lighter original ones for several years with no problems hauling dry hay and straw/cornstalks.  But if you are hauling 90% silage bales like we are now, the heavier one is better.  When you tilt the bed with ten 2800 pound wet silage bales on it, they don't roll off and exit the bed as soon as dry hay does because they are squishy, which puts a lot more stress on the tilting mechanism when it bottoms out to the side.  The dry bales would have already rolled off long before it tilts all the way over.
