Not to be nit picky but pennies from 1981 and earlier are .95 copper. In 1982 some pennies were still made of copper and then the composition was changed to .992 % zinc with a copper plating later in the year. The way to tell the difference between a copper 1982 penny and the zinc 1982 penny is by the weight. The copper penny weighs 3.11 grams while the zinc penny is 20% lighter at 2.5 grams.
Anyone wondering what's up with Copper?
