Subject: Ground Hay Storage

Elk Horn, IA
Looking at getting more heavily into the ground hay thing for daily feeding as we are transitioning to a mostly TMR feed system. My question is is there a rule of thumb for how long the hay can be in a pile before its been exposed to the elements too long and the feed value starts to plummet? Would like to make a massive pile while theres a break in the weather but might take 2-3 months before wed have to grind again. Thoughts? Advice? I guess I should also add it will be stored on concrete in an old pit silo.
