Balaton Mn | The Great Jerusalem Artichoke Circus is the book that a local author wrote about this. I remember neighbors planting them, seems no one really had to many acres as I remember. Guys would buy old potatoe equipment, paint it up and sell for artichoke harvest. In the book it said that these guys would fly potential investors into Marshall, fly over newly built corn plant and tell them that it was the artichoke processing plant. I think they were going to make ethanol out of the chokes, if I remember correctly the book said they produced something like one cup of ethanol, if that. | |
